Unchahar: NTPC Unchahar formally inaugurated the Winter Workshop of its Girl Empowerment Mission (GEM) at the DAV Auditorium, marking another step towards strengthening education, skill development and self-confidence among young girls from nearby rural areas.
The week-long workshop aims to empower adolescent girls through structured learning modules, physical activities and personality development sessions. The programme focuses on holistic growth by combining academics with confidence-building initiatives.
The inaugural ceremony was graced by Vishw Mohan Singh, Project Head, NTPC Unchahar, as the chief guest. Senior officials including the General Manager (Operation & Maintenance), General Manager (Operation), General Manager (Maintenance), Head of Human Resources, departmental heads, senior members of the Priyadarshini Ladies Club, along with representatives of unions and associations were also present on the occasion.
This winter workshop is a continuation of the Girl Empowerment Campaign held in June 2025, under which 120 girls aged between 10 and 12 years from villages surrounding NTPC Unchahar were trained in reading, writing and mathematics. In addition, they were exposed to physical activities, karate training and meditation to promote physical fitness and mental well-being.
Designed as a reinforcement programme, the winter workshop seeks to strengthen the learning outcomes of the earlier initiative while further nurturing self-reliance, confidence and overall personality development among the participants.
The inaugural event set an inspiring tone for the days ahead, motivating the young participants to pursue learning with renewed enthusiasm. Through such initiatives, NTPC Unchahar continues to play a proactive role in shaping the future of young girls and reaffirming its commitment to inclusive growth and positive social transformation.
